Is Your Website Ready for the Holiday Season?

holiday website

The holiday season has a way of sneaking up on small business owners.

One minute it is early fall, and the next minute people are asking about holiday hours, gift certificates, shipping deadlines, end-of-year appointments, winter schedules, or whether you are open between Christmas and New Year’s.

This is a good time to give your website a quick once-over.

Not a full redesign. Not a huge project. Just a practical check to make sure the people looking for you can find the information they need without having to call, text, message, or guess.

Start with your hours. If your schedule changes at all around Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, or winter break, make sure that information is easy to find. Your website, Google Business Profile, and social media should all match. Nothing frustrates people faster than driving somewhere or waiting for a response because the hours online were wrong.

Next, look at your homepage. Does it still reflect what you want people to know right now? If you offer seasonal services, holiday specials, gift cards, winter programs, year-end booking, or anything that changes this time of year, it may be worth adding a short note near the top of the page.

It does not have to be fancy. A simple message like “Now booking winter appointments” or “Holiday gift certificates available” can be enough to guide people in the right direction.

Your contact information is another easy thing to check. Test your contact form. Make sure the right person receives the message. Check your phone number, email links, booking links, and social media buttons. If someone is ready to reach out, you do not want a broken form or outdated email address getting in the way.

If you sell products, take deposits, book appointments, or accept inquiries online, walk through that process like a customer. Is it clear what happens next? Are the instructions easy to understand? Does everything work on a phone?

Mobile matters a lot during the holidays. People are busy. They are searching between errands, in the car, at the barn, at the store, or while trying to remember the thing they forgot to do three days ago. Your site should be easy to use even when someone is in a hurry.

This is also a good time to refresh photos or featured content. You do not need to decorate your whole website for the holidays, but a current photo, seasonal update, or new announcement can make your site feel active and cared for.

And while you are there, clean up anything outdated. Old events, old pricing, old staff information, expired specials, and “coming soon” messages from months ago can make a website feel neglected.

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is to make your website helpful.

During the holiday season, people are already juggling a lot. A clear, current website makes things easier for them and for you. It answers the simple questions before they become extra emails, phone calls, or missed opportunities.

A little website housekeeping now can save a lot of confusion later.

And honestly, that is one of the best gifts you can give your business during a busy season.
